Roadrunners seize position in RMAC championship

Denver- Metro State College of Denver’s softball team secured their place in the regular season Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference championship after shutting out the Nebraska-Kearney Lopers 7-0 at Auraria Field on Saturday. Sunday’s triple header began at 10 a.m. and Metro’s Roadrunners came out swinging. Roadrunners annihilated Lopers in all three games, 3-1 in the first game, 6-1 in the second, and 14-3 in the last game.

Metro has won the past 12 games consecutively, bringing Metro the top of the Central Region NCAA regional rankings. All season these tough ladies have only lost three

games overall. At second base for Metro, Sarah Rusch catches a fly ball for an out. Rusch was very strong offensively as well, scoring four runs in two of the games.

Metro has now won their past 12 games consecutively. MSCD’s team improved to 36-3 overall and 32-2 in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference. Metro will host the RMAC Tournament beginning Thursday May 6 and will wrap up  Saturday May 8.

Metro’s award winning pitcher, Christie Robinson continued to build her outstanding statistics.
